ABOUT US

WHERE PURPOSE MEETS THE PLATE

Meristem Cafe is a gluten-free cafe in Fair Oaks dedicated to empowering neurodiverse young adults. Located in the Sacramento area, our cafe serves as both a dining destination and a job training program.

Led by classically trained chefs, our cafe is powered by passion and purpose. Autistic and neurodiverse young adults work alongside experienced culinary professionals, gaining hands-on experience in every aspect of cafe operations—from food preparation to customer service. The result is more than just gluten-free and dairy-free cuisine; it’s growth, inclusion, and community.

Every reservation at our Fair Oaks cafe directly supports this mission, helping neurodiverse young adults build confidence, independence, and career skills.

A SEED-TO-TABLE MISSION

Much of the produce served at our gluten-free cafe is grown on-site in our biodynamic garden, creating a true seed-to-table journey that our neurodiverse team members are involved in from start to finish.

Working alongside our farmers, autistic young adults learn sustainable agriculture practices, harvest seasonal ingredients, and see firsthand how food travels from soil to plate. This hands-on experience builds practical skills while deepening their connection to the food they help prepare and serve.

This seed-to-table approach ensures fresh ingredients for our gluten-free and dairy-free menu while providing meaningful learning opportunities for our team.
